
Cherry Varieties
At Mount Pleasant Cherries we have on offer 7 varieties of cherries. Our cherries all ripen at different stages of the cherry seasons, ensuring you have access to the best cherries at the time of your visit.
Lapin Cherry
Lapins are large, firm and glossy, showcasing vibrant ruby to crimson hues and turn a deep red well before it is ready to pick. Lapins have a succulent consistency with low acidity when ripe, containing a mild, sweet, and fruity flavour. Lapins mature mid season.
Simone Cherry
Similar to the Lapins, both maturing at about the same time.
The fruit is large and very crunchy, the colour is deep dark red with a very sweet taste.
Van Cherry
Large dark red fruit with a sweet taste, firm flesh with a short thick stem. Van’s are a medium to large, slightly ‐squat heart‐shaped variety with dark brown‐red skin and sweet red flesh.
Regina Cherry
The Regina is a deep and rich fruit, well-loved for its beautiful mahogany red skin and lusciously long green stems. It is a plump and pretty cherry with excellent firmness that produces the ultimate cherry zest – a good crunch and sweet flavour.
Sylvia Cherry
With a gentle and subtle texture, the Sylvia is one of our earliest maturing large and sweet tasting fruit. Sylvia often has a lovely heart-shaped fruit with a shorter stem.
Kordia Cherry
Very dark firm fleshed cherry with a very distinctive flavour, ideally is a dark mahogany colour at harvest to achieve the balance of sugar and acid for it’s unique taste, with a light crop load.
Sweetheart Cherry
Our latest ripening variety the Sweetheart is a medium sized cherry with bright red skin and a sweet and tangy flavor well suited for eating straight off the tree.
